Business Continuity
The Federal Home Loan Bank of Seattle (Seattle Bank) has developed plans for business
continuity and disaster recovery to help ensure the bank’s safe and sound operation
in the event of a disaster situation.
The Seattle Bank has two facilities dedicated to business continuity and disaster
recovery. The first is a business resumption facility from which personnel can operate
the essential functions of the bank in the event of a disaster or business interruption
that renders its headquarters wholly or partially inaccessible or unusable. The
second is a recovery data center, which houses business-critical applications and
systems.
Recovery processes are tested, at a minimum, once each year, with component testing
occurring as needed. Internal processes, both technical and non-technical, are updated
as needed to reflect changes in the bank’s operations. In addition, the Seattle
Bank has reciprocal agreements with other Federal Home Loan Banks to provide wire
transfer services and overnight advances if the Seattle Bank is unable to perform
those functions.
In the event of a disaster, the Seattle Bank will send email to all members regarding
any changes in contact information or procedures and will update its Web site to
communicate important information regarding our status, available services, and
contact information.
