Our Company
At the Federal Home Loan Bank of Seattle, we provide liquidity, funding, and services
to enhance the success of our members and support the availability of affordable
homes and economic development in the communities they serve.
The Seattle Bank is a member-owned cooperative serving 339 community financial
institutions.
Our members—commercial banks, savings institutions,
credit unions, and insurance companies—are our customers. We provide them
with access to wholesale funding that they can use to make home mortgages, small
business, and other loans to the members of their communities.
We are also a community partner, working with our members, community nonprofits,
and cities and towns across our region to promote affordable housing and economic
development. Each year, we provide 10 percent of our profits to fund affordable
housing for the residents of the communities we serve. In addition, we provide reduced-rate
advances for affordable housing and community economic development.
The Seattle Bank is one of 12 Federal Home Loan Banks across the U.S. Chartered
by the government in 1932, the Federal Home Loan Bank System is one of the nation’s
largest sources of private funding for affordable housing.
The Seattle Bank serves Alaska, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Utah, Washington,
Wyoming, American Samoa, Guam, and the Northern Mariana Islands.
